How It All Began
Dr. Teng began dreaming up his ideal Orthodontic clinic when he attended Johns Hopkins University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in 1999, with a concentration in Materials Science and Engineering. He worked as a consultant for three years with Accenture, a leading worldwide management consulting firm. Dr. Teng is also a 2006 graduate of Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in New York City. During his dental training, he was placed on the Dean’s Academic Honor Roll, received the Student Research Fellowship Award from the National Institute of Health, and the Research Assistant Award from Columbia University. His research was published in scientific journals and presented at national conferences. Dr. Teng completed his orthodontic residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center, receiving his Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2008.
Dr. Teng is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and serves on the AAO Council on Communications. He was the President of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists in 2022, is a past president of the Texas Association of Orthodontists, a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the El Paso District Dental Society, and he is Board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontists. Dr. Teng was also appointed by Texas Governor Abbott to the Dental Review Committee of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Our Passion & Our Mission for El Paso
Dr. Teng is a board-certified orthodontist and since moving to El Paso in 2008 to begin working, he fell in love with the friendly family-oriented El Paso community. Dr. Teng and his wife Bonnie have since given birth to 3 beautiful children who attend El Paso public schools and are actively involved in their school communities. Dr. Teng’s favorite El Paso restaurant is Sunny’s Sushi. Dr. Teng loves spending time in the Sun City playing volleyball in the El Paso sunshine at the Galatzan Recreation Center.
JT Orthodontics began in 2014 as a small community-focused private practice. Since 2014, our mission and values have not wavered. Dr. Teng has led a team whose goal is to always be the best part of every patient’s day.
